… y es que en estas fechas todos los escaparates se llenan de corazones de variadas formas, tamaños y proporciones… el hecho es que todo se queda más meloso y se ven muchos más chicos de compras, súper nerviosos y comiéndose las uñas sin saber que comprar a su novia! He llegado a ver novios con una lista ‘amorosa’ que ponía ‘esto le gusta!’ y ‘esto NO le gusta’… en fin, todo vale!!

Cuando Deborah me envió un mail contándome el proyecto que tenia en marcha con Laura me recuerdo de haber esbozado una gran sonrisa, aplaudir y soltar un gran OLÉ (es una pena que los mails aún no ‘permitan’ ver en directo estas reacciones instintivas)!!! Iniciativas como esta se agradecen y una se une más que contenta… Y que es ‘CRAFT AND THE CITY’? Pues os recomiendo visitar todos los rincones de su web o facebook… nadie lo explica mejor que Deborah y Laura!!

Y claro, aquí os dejo ‘MI BARCELONA’! Muchas gracias por presentarnos las súper rutas craft y las 1001 Barcelonas y tantas otras ciudades que se sigan!!

When Deborah emailed me telling me about the project she had started with Laura I remember reacting with a big smile, a clap and droping a big OLÉ (shame that the mails don’t 'allowe' you to see in live these instinctive reactions)!!! Initiatives like this are very much appreciated and one participates more than happy... and what is 'CRAFT AND THE CITY'? como hacer mi novio feliz… PARTE 1

No hay persona que más me ayude con la shop que mi novio Alex. O bien me pinta algo, cuelga esto y aquello, más a la derecha… más a la izquierda, que si vamos allí y allá, ¿que me montas una tienda online?… en fin, tiene paciencia!! Pero es MUY PESADO (siempre hay un pero y este habría que decirlo). Para quien lo conoce personalmente sabe de lo que estoy hablando (verdad?) pero para quienes no, y para que conste, también yo tengo mi dosis de paciencia… hasta que a principios de mes, cuando todos pensamos en los propósitos para el nuevo año, he decidido que dedicaría algunos (muchos) días a las ‘peticiones’ de Alex.

Así que puse manos a la obra y he empezado (lo que aún me queda…) por 2 de los muchos proyectos que lleva más de un año pidiéndome y para los cuales nunca ‘encuentro el tiempo’: un súper cartelito de Abierto/Cerrado y los logos de las redes sociales para poner en la puerta de la shop! Claro que, como para muchos hombres (cof cof), con unas roñosas pegatinas y unas cartulinas impresas en el ordenador ya estaría ‘muy bien’!! ¿Pero es que ya no sabes como soy?… y al final le di la vuelta y lo hice a lo ‘kutchi-style’… y voilá!

Nada más con ver abajo su cara de contento… Está más feliz que una perdiz… y yo también! Esperamos que os guste!!

No one helps me more in the shop than my boyfriend Alex. Or he is painting something, hanging this and that, further to the right... a bit to the left, let’s go here and there, ¿can you set up a online shop?... Well, he has patience!! But it is VERY ANNOYING (there's always a but, and this one had to be said). For anyone who knows him personally knows what I'm talking about (right?) but for those who do not, and for the record, I also have my share of patience... until earlier this month, when we all think about our New Year purposes, I decided that was time to dedicate some (many) days to Alex’s 'requests'.

So I set to work and I started (there is still a lot to come...) with 2 of the many projects that he’s been talking about for more than a year and for wich I never 'find the time' to do: a super sign of Open/Closed and logos of social networks to hang on the door of the shop! Of course, as for many men (cof cof), with some snotty stickers and a computer printed would be ‘fine’!! ¿But you still don’t know me?... And I finally turned him around and made it ‘kutchi-style’... and voila!

Nothing more than seing below his happy face... he’s more than happy... and me too! We hope you enjoy!!

|español| Un año se ha terminado y un nuevo empieza… y no podía ser mejor ocasión para compartir con todos vosotros algunos pensamientos, dudas y reflexiones para el año que se presenta.

Al dejar de lado mi ‘plan’ de ser Arquitecta puse sobre la mesa todos los valores y principios con que quería ‘rehacer’ mi perspectiva de la vida, un intento a ser y hacer feliz. Y aquí estoy, hoy, con un nuevo plan, un nuevo futuro. Un futuro que espero seguir construyendo con todos vosotros, cada día, poco a poco, con mucho cariño.

Es en ese cariño, en las pequeñas cosas hechas a mano, que he concentrado todo mi saber, tiempo, dedicación y corazón… mucho corazón. Porque creo firmemente que si no lo haces con el corazón entonces no merece la pena. La shop me ha permitido conocer personas de las cuales me siento muy afortunada de poder compartir los pequeños ratos de mis día y que me han ayudado a seguir adelante y a ser mejor como persona.

Y como en todo ‘trayecto’ hay piedras… es inevitable… El mundo del ‘handmade’ está lejos de ser perfecto y de color rosa… de hecho, y tengo que reconocerlo, en mucho cosas me recuerda algunos de los motivos por los cuales he puesto de parte la arquitectura (si es que eso se puede hacer…). Pero sigo. Y sigo porque CREO en los buenos proyectos, en la gente con ilusión y perseverancia, en quienes siguen adelante a pesar de las dificultades, en la creatividad, en lo ‘hacer bien’ y para TODOS, en el respecto hacia los compañeros-handmade, en el éxito sin plagio, y en un futuro donde comprar en el pequeño comercio será una realidad más cercana.

2012 será súper! Con nuevos proyectos y muchas ganas de hacer más y mejor todos los días!! Cuento con todos vosotros para que nos sigan acompañando en esta aventura! Y gracias por las decenas de mails diarios. Los leo a todos con dedicación y me encanta ver vuestros trabajos, vuestras palabras de agradecimiento y alegría! Y, como no, agradecer a tooooodos los que nos visitáis a diario!

|español| Casi, casi terminando el año… solo tengo a agradecer a todas las profesoras de los kutchi-talleres: Silvia Ribas de los talleres de costura, Vanessa Rodríguez de los talleres de ganchillo y amigurumi, Eva Monleón de los talleres de bordados y muñecos con calcetines, Sandra Jimenez de los talleres de vitrofusión, Alicia del taller de piezas en resina y a todas las futuras profesoras, en especial Teresa Silva y Marina Rocha que vendrán en exclusivo desde Portugal a la shop!!!

Por este año es todo de talleres pero ya tenemos muchos más planeados para el año que viene aqui.

Un abrazo enorme a todas las alumnas y profes que han hecho de los kutchi-talleres un exitazo! Olé vosotras! No me he olvidado que tenemos pendiente un pequeño ‘meeting’/pica-pica a la vuelta de fiestas!!!

Los detalles son impresionantes, y el perfeccionismo y acabado de todas las piezas hace aún más especial su fantástico trabajo! |español| y para todos los clientes de la tienda online un regalito muy especial: un súper tutorial con todo el material necesario para hacer un muñeco de jengibre para colgar!!

Incluye: molde de muñeco en cartón, 2 botones blancos, 2 hojas de fieltro marrón 100% lana, 1 trozo de fieltro rojo 100% lana, hilo rojo y marrón, cinta ondulina roja, bies rojo con topos blancos y “baker’s twine” rojo/blanco y rojo/verde.

1. delinear el molde de cartón en las hojas de fieltro marrón (atención: delinear la parte de delante en una hoja, girar el molde, y delinear la parte de atrás en la otra hoja) y recortar.

2. recortar 2 círculos en el fieltro rojo para hacer las mejillas, más o menos del mismo tamaño de los dibujados en el molde. coser las mejillas a la parte delantera de la hoja de fieltro marrón con el hilo rojo, y bordar la boca y los ojos.

3. hacer un lacito con el bies de topos y coser a la parte delantera del muñeco. coser también el botón con el hilo rojo.

4. ahora que tienes toda la frente del muñeco lista solo hay que juntar las dos partes del muñeco, delantera y trasera y coser el muñeco a todo el rededor hasta cerrarlo por completo (atención: poner la parte donde has delineado al principio para dentro, que no se vea! puedes cerrar el muñeco con punto a mano o a máquina).

5. cuando lo tengas todo cerrado solo tienes que pasar el “baker’s twine” del color que elijas por la parte de arriba-trasera para hacer el lazo para colgar (he usado una aguja con ojal grande para que pueda pasar el twine con más facilidad). y hecho!!

Espero que os lo paséis muy bien cosiendo! Me encantaría ver fotos de vuestros muñecos de jengibre!!!

|english| and for all the online shop customers we’ve prepared a very special gift: a super tutorial with all the material needed to make a gingerbread man to hang!!

Includes: cardboard shape, 2 white buttons, 2 sheets of brown felt 100% wool, 1 piece of red felt 100% wool, red and brown thread, red onduline ribbon, red with white polka dots bias and "baker's twine" in red/white and red/green.

1. delineate the cardboard mold on the sheets of brown felt (note: the front outline on a sheet, turn the mold, and draw back in the other sheet) and cut.

2. cut 2 circles in red felt to make the cheeks more or less the same size as those drawn into the mold. sew the cheeks in the front brown felt with red thread, and stitch mouth and eyes.

3. make a bow with the bias and sew to the front of the doll. also sew the button with the red thread.

4. Now that you have all the gingerbread man front ready, just put the two parts together, front and back, and sew all around to close it completely (note: put the part where you outlined in the beginning to the inside, so that it can be seen! You can close with hand stitch or using a sewing machine).

5. After everything is closed only have to pass the "baker's twine" of the color you choose for the top-rear to make the loop for hanging (I used a needle with large eye to pass the twine easier). and done!

I hope you enjoy the sewing! I would love to see photos of your gingerbread man!!!

|español| siiii!!! han llegado las navidades! Hemos trabajo (y seguimos trabajando) muuuuchoooo para tener todo a punto y ahora podemos enseñaros nuestra súper-kutchi-árbol de navidad, con sus luces, muñecos de papa Noel de Jane Foster, bolitas de ganchillo (un pequeño proyecto en colaboración con Vanessa de La Petita Teixidora) y muchas más cositas hechas con mucho amor!

También hemos preparado un calendario de adviento gigante para que, a partir de mañana día 1 de Diciembre, los niños pequeños, grandes y muy grandes puedan llevar a casa con su comprita algunas cositas muy dulces!

Espero y deseo que os guste mucho y, desde aquí, os incentivo a que este año (y todos los demás!) compréis vuestros regalos en pequeños negocios de barrio y de preferencia hechos a mano y con mucho cariño… porque todos ya estamos un poco cansados de la típica colonia y de los calcetines (…menuda invasión de anuncios por la tele…) y lo ‘hecho a mano’ no tiene por que ser inasequible!

Porque recibir un regalo ‘handmade’ es más que un packaging o envoltorio bonito… son artículos con historia, con alma y con amor, y eso al final es el espirito Navideño!!

We’ve work (and still working) sooooo hard to have everything done and now we can show you our super-kutchi Christmas tree with cute lights, Santa Claus softies by Jane Foster, crocheted baubles (a small project made in colaboration with Vanessa from La Petita Teixidora) and many more things made with love!

We have also prepared a giant advent calendar so that, from tomorrow December 1, small and not so small children can take home some treats with their buy!

I hope that you like and enjoy it a lot and, from here, I challenge you for this year (and more to come!) to buy your christmas gifts in small neighborhood businesses, preferably handmade with love... because we're all a bit tired of the typical perfume and socks (...huge comercial invasion on TV...) and 'handmade' products don’t have to be unaffordable!

Because receiving handmade gift is more than just a nice packaging or fancy wrapping paper... it’s something with a story behind, with soul and love, and, after all, that is the Christmas spirit is!!

|español| …y eso quiere decir que ya estamos a mediados de Octubre… caminando rápido hacia las navidades (lo que me asusta un poco, teniendo en cuenta la cantidad de cosas que me quedan por hacer…)!

No se porque, Octubre siempre me recuerda aquellos paisajes con molinos de viento y nubes muy blancas, el ultimo helado antes de las primeras lluvias y el olor a hierba mojada… será por eso que no me he resistido en hacer este escaparate! Eso si, con mucho color!! Los zapatitos y botitas con tela polar están de vuelta, así como las bolsitas para la merienda!! Y también muchas novedades!!

Prometido está, que en breve lo podréis encontrar todo en la tienda online!! Mientras, si venís a aprovechar los últimos rayos de sol en un paseo por la Barceloneta, no dejéis de visitarnos!!

|español| Ya tenemos TALLER DE COSTURA FREESTYLE con nuestra querida profe Silvia Ribas!! Tendrá una duración de 10 sesiones de 3 horas, con un total de 30 horas. Podrás inscribirte en todo el curso o en un mínimo de 4 sesiones.

Se realizará todos los Martes días 4, 11,18 y 25 de Octubre; 8, 15, 22, y 29 de Noviembre y 13 y 20 de Diciembre. Podrás adquirir nociones básicas de patronaje, materiales, costura a mano y manejo de la máquina de coser a través de clases dirigidas y conjuntas; y clases libres y individualizadas donde cada alumna podrá confeccionar su proprio proyecto, desde el patrón hasta el acabado final.

Precio por alumna: Curso completo 188 euros. Opción 4 sesiones 75 euros. Material incluido (excepto las telas para la elaboración de los proyectos que deben ser elegidas a gusto por cada alumna).

|español| ya estamos en Septiembre… y eso quiere decir que ya nos toca a todos volver a nuestras rutinas habituales: los más pequeños al cole y los más grandes al trabajo!!

En la ilovekutchi shop no queríamos dejar de señalar este ‘volver a empezar’ y nos hemos montando más un kutchi-escaparte para todos vosotros! Hay muchos artículos nuevos y, como no, vuelven los talleres a la shop: empezamos con un taller de costura para que puedas aprender a coser una bata de cole! Mola, verdad??

Mochilitas, estuches, fundas, postales, monederos, bolsos… y muchas cositas más podrás encontrar en la shop o tienda online! Por cierto, y hablando de la tienda online, has visto las nuevas tarifas de envíos? A partir de ahora, todo será mucho más rápido, con plazos de entrega de 72h para España y Portugal!!

Por aquí, seguiremos poniendo muchas novedades todas las semanas, porque queremos que, aún que estés lejos, no dejes de disfrutar de las kutchi-cosas.

|español| …una historia de amor entre un árbol y una tienda… Se han conocido hace un año, en un tiempo sin luz ni color, y en una mirada se enamoraron! Era un árbol muy triste y solitario, con un verde muy pálido y sin ganas de vivir… Con el pasar del tiempo, el árbol y la tienda se fueron conociendo más y más… y la tienda le fue ayudando a crecer y a ser feliz. Como prueba de su amor, siempre que ‘hay luz’ en la tienda, el árbol se viste de colores!

Dice la gente del barrio, que incluso el árbol parece ‘moverse’ cada día un poquito para estar más cerca de su grande amor, la tienda! Y que por eso, como por magia, quien se ponga debajo del árbol y pida un deseo, se realizará!!

|english| ...a love story between a tree and a shop... that have known a year ago, at a time without light or color, and in one look they fell in love! It was a very sad and lonely tree with a very pale green and no desire to live... With the pass of time, the tree and the shop became to know each other more and more... and the store started to help him grow and to be happy. As a proof of his love for her, everytime ‘there is light' in the store, the tree dresses in bright colors!

People from the neighborhood says that the tree seems to be 'moving' each day a little bit more to be closer to his great love, the store! And so, as if by magic, everyone that stays under the tree and makes a wish, it will came true!!

|español| Si!! Si!! llega el mes de Septiembre y, como prometido, volvemos con más talleres!! Empezaremos con un taller de costura muy especial: COMO HACER UNA BATA? Ideal para súper-mamás que quieran aprender a hacer batas para el colegio de sus niños!!

El taller será de 2 sesiones, ambas de costura! Se realizará viernes 9 de Sept. de 18 a 21h y 10 de Sept. de 17 a 21h. Como siempre, contaremos con nuestra súper profe de costura, Silvia Ribas… ya la conocéis de los fantásticos talleres de faldas!! El precio: 45 euros, material incluido (excepto las telas que deben ser elegidas a gusto por cada alumna). Tendremos disponibles 3 tamaños de batas, elegir: Pequeño (hasta 3 años), Mediano (de 4 a 6 años) y Grande (de 7 a 10 años). Máximo 5 alumnas!!!

|english| and these were the last workshops before the summer!! We had 2 groups in the sewing workshop: how to make a skirt and 1 glass fusing in microwave! The result: very cool skirts, super nice glass pieces and very happy students!

In the shop, we are getting ready to go to Portugal! Again, I remind you that the store will be closed from the 4th to 18th of August and that all orders from the online store made between the 3rd and 18th of August will be shipped on August 19th!

There will be more super workshops in September... I can advence you that we will have 'free sewing' classes, both machine and hand sewing, felt classes and many, many more!! Adriana studied Fine Arts in Barcelona, sculpture, and always had a special interest for the world of 'modeling' and volume... one day she began to make her 'jewels' in FIMO and maineimiscloe was born! In the shop you will find some of her super-sweet necklaces and earrings, and you can also order your name in donut, ‘marshmallow’ or cookies!!!

|english| a very hot day was being anounced for this Saturday, June 25th, but we had cold champagne to celebrate the first ilovekutchi shop anivesary!! The project is 'tiny' but eager to stay and give small doses of handmade love for many years... we recognize the difficulty, in these day and ahead, to maintain a project such as ours, and above all , surviving in a world consumed by the 'use and throw away' and where it is still difficult to give value to 'handmade'... I hope, from the heart, that the shop can add ‘a bit of sand’ to this 'struggle' and that all 'I love it!’ can be transformed into people who actually enjoy and feel the satisfaction of buying and using handmade products, made with a special affection, unique and with quality...

Thank you so much to all of you who have come to the shop to congratulate and celebrate with us this first year!! A special hug to all artisans and friends that we’ve been adding to this project… you’re ‘big’ and you know that... thanks for helping us spreading the shop!!

|español| se adivinaba mucha calor para este sábado, 25 de Junio, pero nosotros teníamos cava fresquito para celebrar el primer cumpleaños de la ilovekutchi shop!! Es un proyecto ‘pequeñito’ pero con muchas ganas de quedarse y repartir pequeñas dosis de amor hechas a mano durante muchos años más… reconocemos la dificultad de, en los tiempos que vivemos y se avecinan, mantener un proyecto como lo nuestro y, ante todo, supervivir en un mundo consumido por el ‘usa y tira’ y donde aún es difícil valorar lo ‘hecho a mano’… Espero, de corazón, que la shop pueda añadir su granito de arena a esta ‘lucha’ y que todos los ‘me encanta!’ se conviertan en personas que disfrutan y sienten la satisfacción de comprar y usar productos hechos con un cariño especial, únicos y de calidad…

|english| last week we had a surprise visit in the shop: the team of BTV, Barcelona Televisió!! I've been asked if they could interview me for the program ‘Conexió Barcelona’ and I accepted the challenge! Understand 'challenge' in the way that it was a total surprise, I had just opened the shop in the morning and I had trouble even articulating words... so I did what I could... and what my body alowed me to do!!! |español| la semana pasada tuvimos una visita sorpresa en la shop: el equipo de BTV, Barcelona Televisió!! Me han preguntado si nos podían entrevistar para el programa ‘Conexió Barcelona’ y he aceptado el reto! Entiéndase ‘reto’ en el sentido de que fue una sorpresa total, había justo abierto la shop por la mañana y aún me costaba articular palabras… así que he hecho lo que he podido… y lo que mi cuerpo me ha permitido!!! ‘Connexió Barcelona’ es un programa informativo transmitido a los lunes a partir de las 18h que tiene como objetivo la divulgación de las principales noticias y acontecimientos en Barcelona, a través de conexiones en directo y/o entrevistas en distintos puntos de la ciudad, tiendas y locales!!

DIY: galletas de mantequilla

|english| And, with the super butter cookies, we open a new section in the blog: THE KUTCHI-DIY!! From now on I will dedicate some 'posts' on the blog to DIY from some of the items I place in the shop windows and also some things I do and that many, many people ask me how to make that are very simple and fun to do!!

Nothing better then starting with the simple recipe from the, 'world' known, butter cookies that many students of the workshops have already tasted!!

You're going to need 250g of butter, 100g of sugar and 340g of flour. Preheat the oven to 180 º... Put all ingredients in a bowl and mix with hands to create a homogeneous paste. Prepare some cookie cutters in fun shapes (in this case I used ones that I’ve bought in IKEA in the shape of animals). Lay the dough with a roll, preferably of wood, on a smooth surface with a little flour and start cutting the dough with the cookie cutters. Place everything in a large bowl suitable for oven (I used a round Pyrex glass) and put a tad of flour before placing the cookies. Put all into the preheated oven and let heat up and down until they’re ‘golden’... take them all to a plate and let them cool!! I recommend putting all in a cookie jar to keep them crispy... hummmm...

That's it!!! It's so simple that, if you wish, you can do it with your little ones... they will have a great time... and if you can take some pictures and send to kutchishop@gmail.com. I’m curious to see how the cookies turned out!

|español| Y así, con las súper galletas de mantequilla, inauguramos una nueva sección en el blog: LOS KUTCHI-DIY!! A partir de ahora dedicaré algunos ‘posts’ en el blog a DIY de algunos de los elementos que voy colocando en los escaparates y algunas cositas que voy haciendo y que muchas, pero muchas personas me preguntan como hacer y que son muy sencillas y divertidas!!

Nada mejor que empezar con la sencilla receta de las, ‘mundialmente’ conocidas, galletas de mantequilla que muchas alumnas de los talleres ya han podido probar!!

Vais a necesitar de 250gr de mantequilla, 100gr de azúcar y 340gr de harina. Precalentar el horno a 180º… Poner todos los ingredientes en un bol y mezclar/amasar con las manos hasta crear una masa homogénea. Preparar algunos cortadores de galletas chulos y con formas divertidas (en este caso he usado unos que he comprado en IKEA con formas de animalitos). Tender la masa con un rollo, de preferencia de madera, sobre una superficie lisa, con un poco de harina y ir cortando la masa con los cortadores de galletas. Colocar todo en un recipiente amplio apto para horno (he usado un Pirex de vidrio redondo) poniendo un pelín de harina antes de colocar las galletas. Llevar al horno, previamente calentado, y dejar con calor arriba y abajo hasta que estén doraditas… sacarlas todas para un plato y dejar enfriar!! Recomiendo guardarlas después de frías en un bote de vidrio proprio para galletas para que se mantengan crujientes… hummmm…

Y ya está!!! Es tan sencillo que, si queréis, lo podéis hacer con los más peques… se lo van a pasar bomba… y si os animáis podéis hacer fotos y enviar para kutchishop@gmail.com. Queremos ver que tal os han quedado!

|english| the heat is already being felt and I decided to 'acclimate' the lateral shop window with a bit of the taste of summer... with origami boats, banners and lots of color!! Inkie, the octopus, is in very good company with boots, baskets, hair bands, clips, covers for books, bibs and flowers... lots of flowers… in paper and fabric!!!

In the last days many new things have arrived to the shop and I am working on updating the online shop, so stay tuned...! I've also been thinking and, at the request of many clients and ‘students’ from the shop, I've decided to do some workshops myself! What do you think? Now I need your opinions and suggestions to start planning everything!! It is very important for me to know what you think and what you would like to learn that I could teach...

And because we are in a ‘news moment’... from now on I will dedicate some 'posts' in the blog to DIY of some of the items I do to place in the shop windows and that many, many people ask me how to make and are very simple and fun to do!! |español| el calor ya se hace sentir y he decidido ‘ambientar’ el escaparte lateral al sabor del verano… con barquitos de papiroflexia, banderines y mucho color!! El pulpo Inkie está muy bien acompañado de botitas, cestas, diademas, clips, fundas para libros, baberos y flores… muchas flores… de papel y de tela!!!

En los últimos días han llegado muchas novedades a la shop y a los pocos voy actualizando la tienda online, así que estad atentos…! También he estado pensando y, a pedido de muchos clientes y alumnos de la shop, he decidido hacer yo mismita algunos talleres! Que os parece? Ahora necesito vuestras opiniones y sugerencias para empezar a planear todo!! Es muy importante para mi saber que pensáis, que os gustaría aprender que yo pudiera enseñar…

|english| Yesterday, Saturday June 11th, we were in the MAUP, Mercado Urbano de Artesanato Português!! It was a spectacular event with great music, great food and lots of fun!! The ‘pasteis de nata’ were sooo goooddd... and the live concert from Deolinda and Ex-Wife were the best!!!!

We have taken with us a piece of the store and there were many of you who have visited us!! We were able to be with old friends and meet new ones!! Thank you very much to everyone who visited our small space and for your kind words... I wish I could pass on to all the artisans who are already colaborating with the ilovekutchi shop all the love, all the 'awsome!', the ‘how beautiful!' and all the open eyes and smiles that we received... OBRIGADA!!

|español| Ayer, sábado día 11 de Junio, estuvimos en el MAUP, Mercado Urbano de Artesanato Português!! Fue un evento espectacular, con mucha música, comida de la buena y mucha animación!! Los pasteles de nata estaban bueniissiiimoss… y la actuación de los Deolinda y Ex-Wife fueron LO MÁS!!!!

Hemos llevado con nosotros un trocito de la tienda y fueron muchos los que nos habéis visitado!! Hemos podido estar con viejos amigos y conocer nuevos!! It is part of the event 'Portugal Convida 2011' and it will coincide with the end of the Portuguese Celebrations in Barcelona organized by the Consulado Português!

The program for the 1th of June is:

Concert Party_from 16h_the party will have live music concerts, performances, activities, food and drinks served by the Casa Portuguesa, entertainment with DJ's Cap Terra and the realization of MAUP. In simultaneous will act:

17h30, 19h00 and 22h45 – performance by Escola Circo do Chapitô
21h15 - Concert by Deolinda
23h15 – Concert by X-Wife

|english| Saturday we had the microwave glass fusing workshop!! The girls and I have been amazed at what can be done with a few bits of glass and a mini-oven in the microwave... is simply GREAT!!! They have cut and painted glass, put the trimmings... all with the help of the teacher Sandra Jimenez!! Now you only have to enjoy all the necklaces, rings and earrings that you’ve done in class...

Las chicas y yo hemos alucinado con lo que se puede hacer con unos trocitos de vidrio y un mini-horno en el microondas… es simplemente GENIAL!!! Han cortado y pintado vidrio, colocado las fornituras… todo con la ayuda de la profe Sandra Jiménez!! Ahora toca disfrutar de los collares, anillos y pendientes que habéis hecho en la clase…

|english| can you believe it's been a year since we opened the ilovekutchi shop?? I don’t... time flies... I remember those first days in the shop, the curious looks, unexpected smiles... the effort that we have made, me and Alex, in everything we did and still do, from the shop reconstruction, to the hours of painting and repairs and the affection with which I like to pick each and every product you can find in the shop...

We are so happy that we'll be celebrating the entire month of June… yet, the official day is June 6th!!... after all it’s our 1st ANNIVERSRY!!! And we have prepared a super special shop window and we decorated the entire store with what we like the most: BANNERS AND POMPOMS! Hope you like it...

I leave my gratitude to all of you who follow us in the blog, facebook, online shop... thank you so much!! For always being there supporting and enjoying the ilovekutchi world. I hope we can be here many and many years in the best company ever... YOU.

|español| os podéis creer que ya ha pasado un año desde que hemos abierto la ilovekutchi shop?? yo no… como vuela el tiempo… me acuerdo de los primeros días en la shop, los ollares curiosos, las sonrisas inesperadas… la ilusión que le hemos puesto, yo y Alex, en todo lo que hicimos y hacemos, la reconstrucción del local, las horas de pintura y arreglos, el cariño con que me gusta escoger todo y cada uno de los productos que puedes encontrar en la shop…

Estamos tan contentos que estaremos de celebración todo el mes de Junio… aún que, el día oficial es el día 6 de Junio!!… al final es nuestro 1er ANIVERSARIO!!! Y para ello hemos preparado un escaparate súper especial y hemos decorado toda la tienda con lo que más nos gusta: BANDERINES Y POMPOMS!! Espero que os guste…

|english| And today was the last day from the sewing workshop: how to make a skirt? It was an intense month in which we have met every Saturday morning but it was worth it, right girls? I’m still alucinating with the beautiful skirts you have made... CONGRATULATIONS!!! And thinking that many of you had never sewn on a machine... who would say that you could make your own skirt... Now you won’t look at a skirt with the same ‘eyes’...

I want to thank Silvia Ribas, the super teacher from the sewing workshops! Olé Silvia!! You're the best!... and now we will work on programing more sewing workshops (we already have some cool suggestions from our ‘students’ but we also want to know yours!).

|español| Y hoy fue el ultimo día del taller de costura: como hacer una falda? Fue un mes intenso en que nos hemos encontrado todos los sábados por la mañana pero ha valido la pena, verdad chicas? He alucinado con las faldas más chulas que habéis hecho… ENHORABUENA!!! Y eso que muchas de vosotras nunca había cosido a máquina… quien diría que podríais hacer vuestra propia falda… Eso si: ahora cuando miréis una falda ya será con otros ojos…

|english| Don’t tell this isn’t the best you’ve seen?? Matilde, communication/graphic designer, makes them! I absolutely ove everything she does always with an ‘handmade’ process behind each article. She’s portuguese and on her free time she makes all these gorgeous things from her original ilustrations and drawings…

In the shop you will be abble to find, for now, the bookmarks in ice cream shape (THE BEST!!!) and soon more aiaimatilde products will come!!!

|español| No me digáis que no son una pasada?? Los hace Matilde, una designer de comunicación/gráfica! Me encanta todo lo que hace y siempre con un proceso artesanal por detrás de cada articulo. Es portuguesa y en sus ratos libres hace todas estas cosas maravillosas a partir de sus originales ilustraciones y dibujos…

En la shop podrás encontrar, por ahora los puntos de libro en forma de helado (LO MÁS!!!) y en breve muchos y muchos más productos aiaimatilde!!!

|english| a few days ago I had the pleasure of meeting Angi and her friend Laia!! Angi is the responsible for Mr. Wonderful, a great graphic design project for events that are not boring!!! How cool is that? I strongly recommend you a travel trought her website and facebook and take a look at the photos, invitations, illustrations... that Angi always prepares with such love and affection! If everything is done with the same passion that Angi made this project it has to be a huge success...

Angi also has a blog, ‘muy molón’, where she posts all the things that Mr. Wonderful likes and today she has dedicated a post to the ilovekutchi shop!!! Super!

Thank you so much Angi... I loved meeting you and Laia, and I wish you the very best for your 'wonderful' project and also congratulate you on your wedding that, of course, has to be fantastic!! CONGRATULATIONS!! I hope, at some point, to have Mr. Wonderful organizing an event to the shop!! ;)

|english| And today was a fun day in the shop: in the morning we had the third session of the sewing workshop with Silvia Ribas and in the afternoon the workshop with sock softies with Eva Monleón from Misako Mimoko!! The sewing girls are becoming real professionals on skirt pattern... today they were abble to prove their own skirt and the truth is that they are great!! Congratulations to all!!!

The workshop of sock softies was super cool... Eva, as always, left us all blown away with what can be done with some simple socks! Rats, dogs, cats, rabbits... all cute, hand sewn and embroidered... ALL SPECTACULAR!!

Of course there were butter cookies and, at the request of many workshop ‘students’ and friends I will do a post with the DIY and the recipe so you can try to make them at home!!!

Once again, THANKS TO ALL... I hope you had a great time and learned a lot of stuff!! The next workshop is FUSING GLASS IN MICROWAVE!! There are only a few places available so if you're interested send me mail to kutchishop@gmail.com!!!

|español| Y hoy fue un día muy divertido en la shop: por la mañana tuvimos la tercera sesión del taller de costura con Silvia Ribas y por la tarde el taller de muñecos con calcetines con Eva Monleón de Misako Mimoko!! Las chicas del taller de costura están unas autenticas profesionales del patronaje y en coser faldas… hoy han podido probar cada una su falda y la verdad es que están geniales!! Enhorabuena a todas!!!

El taller de muñecos con calcetines estuvo súper guay… Eva, como siempre, nos ha dejado a todas boquiabiertas con lo que se puede hacer con unos sencillos calcetines! Ratitos, perritos, gatitos, conejos… todo monísimo, cosido y bordado a mano… ESPECTACULARES TODOS!!

No faltaron las galletitas de mantequilla que, por cierto, a pedido de muchas alumnas y amigas haré un post con el DIY y la receta para que podáis probar de hacerlas vosotras mismas en casa!!!

Una vez más, GRACIAS A TODAS… Espero que lo habéis pasado muy bien y aprendido muchas cositas!! El próximo taller es el de FUSING DE VIDRIO EN MICROONDAS!! Ya no quedan muchas plazas así que si estás interesada envíame mail a kutchishop@gmail.com!!!

Above you can watch the video with the handmade report... and, to all of you who haven't seen the program last night... on the set, on the top of the table there was a selection of items you can find here in the shop or in the online shop!

I want to thank Julia Beltrán and all the guys and girls for the excellent work! Congratulations!! It was nice meeting you and seeing you enjoy every little thing that was in the store!! Thank you so much to everyone!!

|english| And today was the firts day we started the workshops: in the morning we had the first of four workshop sessions with Silvia Ribas and her sewing lessons and in the afternoon we had the embroidery workshop with Eva Monleón from Misako Mimoko!! Of course there were butter cookies! Both were GREAT!!! Thanks to all!

It aims to present and promote Polish handmade & design in Barcelona and other Spanish cities. At the same time seeks to establish contacts with Spanish crafters and to invite them to go to Warsaw. So far I was unable to go to Poland to participate in the Handmade Poland but I leave you the interview Paulina did to me about the ilovekutchi shop!!

|english| Catarina Marques was born in Coimbra in 1983. She’s vegetarian, Communication Designer by profession and 'crafty girl' at heart: “I started doing my accessories, sewing, photographing, making my shoes and clothes”. She made somes researches and learned traditional techniques and others more modern and started to mixed them to create her own techniques. 7 years ago she created a blog to share texts, images and finished projects: “And this way began Borboletas na Barriga”, a mark registered with pride.

The Borboletas are fun, colorful and mix different fabrics and patterns! In the shop you will find hair clips, rings, brooches...

|english| "My name is Catarina Matos and since small age I’ve always liked animals. Much of my childhood photos and memories pass through them. My grandmother told me many times that when I got home the first thing I did was go to the doghouse... On the beach I would love to dig beetles from the sand and go for long walks near the river Douro in a donkey. I remember having ducks, fish, guinea pigs and silk vermin and to create tadpoles with my sister... pursuing all the street dogs in the beach and playgrounds. As I got older I began to develop greater empathy for children and their world. The love for animals in general is more limited, but not forgoten. So I’ve created Bichos da Matos... thinking of all children, and also some adults, that like me, appreciate having an animal as a company!". And with Catarina’s words I present you to her precious project: Bichos da Matos!!

In the shop you will find monkeys and sausage dogs, all handmade in organic cotton! They are great, super fun and they're having a blast in the kutchi-jungle!

|español| “Mi nombre es Catarina Matos y desde pequeña que me gusta los animales. Gran parte de mis fotos y recuerdos de niñez pasan a través de ellos. Mi abuela me dijo muchas veces que al llegar a casa lo primero que hacia era ir a la caseta del perro... En la playa gustaba desenterrar escarabajos de la arena y de hacer largos paseos cerca del rio Douro en un burro. Recuerdo de tener patos, peces, cerdos de guinea y bichos de seda, y de crear renacuajos con mi hermana... de perseguir todos los perros callejeros deambulando por las playas y zonas de juegos. Mientras que fui creciendo empecé a desarrollar una mayor empatía por los niños y su mundo. El gusto por los animales en general es más limitado, pero no enfría. Así nacen los bichos da matos… pensando en todos los niños, tal vez ya algunos adultos, que tal como yo aprecian tener un animal como compañía!”. Y con las palabras de Catarina os presento a su precioso proyecto: Bichos da Matos!!

|english| I present you the new bags that have already found their space in the shop!! They’re perfect, designed and produced by Joana Candeias, a Portuguese girl that from a very young age had a special attraction on fabrics: "since childhood I have been fascinated by colors and pattern design and clothing. I started to design small collections, and at the age of 10 I made dresses for dolls, with all kind of details from caps, zippers, buttons... that’s when I started to have this taste for mixing fabrics and textures that I now use as the main influence on my bags."

To get technical basis and work on her creativity, Joana has chosen to take academic studies to provide her with more knowledge in the area of design: "I chose to take a course in Fashion Design, which ended up being the main tool to start making my first pieces."

Since 3 years ago Joana devotes all of her time to the creation of accesories with a base provided by originality, quality and the concern in creating a brand image: "I always get inspiration in different styles and cultures and try to bring a sense of dream and fantasy in every piece…"

|español| Os presento los nuevos bolsos que ya han encontrado su espacio en la shop!! Son perfectos y están diseñados y elaborados por Joana Candeias, una Portuguesa que desde muy pequeña tiene una ‘atracción’ especial por el mundo de las telas: “desde pequeña que me ha sentido fascinada por los colores y diseño de patrones y ropa. He empezado por hacer diseños de colecciones, y con 10años ya hacia vestidos para muñecas, con todo tipo de detalles de golas, gorras, cremalleras, botones… ahí surgió el gusto por la mezcla de telas y texturas que ahora uso como principal influencia en mis bolsos”.

Para tener bases técnicas y trabajar en su creatividad, Joana ha optado por tener estudios académicos que le proporcionasen más conocimiento en el área del diseño: “he optado por hacer un curso de design de Moda, que termino siendo la principal herramienta para empezar a hacer mis primeras piezas”.

Hace 3 años que Joana dedica todo su tiempo a la creación de accesorios, teniendo siempre por base la originalidad, la calidad y la preocupación en crear una imagen de marca: “me inspiro siempre en diferentes estilos y culturas, y busco criar una sensación de ensueño y fantasía en cada pieza…”

All pieces are made one by one in polymer clay, best known as FIMO, and have an impressive level of detail... I never get tired of looking at them... and the desire to give them a bite??...

|english| they’re super pretty and they’re in the shop!! Made with love, the mandingas are inspired by Africa, the home country of Paula... 'adopted' by Spain several years ago.

Paula is the creator of Pipocas, a studio of products designed and made by hand: "I always liked doing things with hands, knitting, crochet, clothing, coloring, patchwork, cooking, painting... what amuses me most is to invent. I am creating crochet outfits for girls, in cotton and wool, and every demand that I start is a thrill."

The mandingas are necklaces made in amigurumi crochet technique, 100% Italian cotton or mixed cotton/acrylic. They close with a button and the inside is in a very soft synthetic textile filling. They don’t heat, don’t weight and do not cause allergies! If they get dirty you can wash them in cold water and soap wash and dry horinzontaly. Awesome, right?

|español| son súper bonitas y ya están en la shop!! hechas con mucho cariño, las mandingas están inspiradas en África, el país de origen de Paula… ‘adoptada’ por España hace ya varios años.

Paula es la creadora de Pipocas, un taller de productos diseñados y elaborados a mano: “siempre me gustó hacer cosas con las manos; tejer, ganchillo, ropa, teñidos, patchwork, cocinar, pintar... lo que más me divierte es inventar. Estoy creando ropita para niñas con ganchillo, algodones y teñidos, y cada trabajo que empiezo es una emoción.”

Las mandingas son collares hechos en crochet con técnica amigurumi, 100% algodón italiano o en mezcla algodón/acrílico. Abrochan con un botón y el interior tiene relleno textil sintético muy suave. No calientan, no pesan y no producen alergias! Además si se ensucian los puedes lavar con agua fría y jabón y secarlos en horizontal. Genial, verdad?

Sant Jordi!!

|english| We’ve got Sant Jordi’s shop window!!! yupiii!! is my first Sant Jordi in the ilovekutchi shop and I was anxious to do the shop window(I had it thought for months...). For those who do not know the history behind this special day I leave you the Legend of Sant Jordi:

the legend says that a long time ago there was a fearsome dragon that drew fire from his mouth. This dragon had fled the village, killed people with his flares and swallowed people alive. The villagers decided to give him two sheep every day, to appease his hunger and prevent more attacks. But... the sheep were over, then they gave cows ... and all the animals that they had, until they were left with nothing to offer. The king held a meeting at which it was decided they would give the dragon a person every day to satisfy his appetite. One day it fell to the king's daughter and very sorry he said: "Excuse my daughter and in return, I give all my fortune, all my gold... half of my kingdom." The people refused the king's request and he asked for eight days to mourn her daughter. On the day, the king left ahead for the cave near the dragon. But suddenly, when the dragon opened his big mouth to eat the princess, the brave knight Sant Jordi came riding on a white horse, with his spear and shield, to save the princess from the clutches of that big dragon. The gentleman raised his spear and hit the dragon, that fell with the spear stuck in his heart. Suddenly, from the blood gushed out a rose bush, with beautiful roses, and then Sant Jordi chose a rose, the prettiest of all, and gave it to the princess as a sign of love. Since then, the people of that place lived quietly.

In the present day, and in commemoration of the international book day, people exchange books and flowers (roses)... and, as you can see from the photos, flowers is something that is no t missing!! But these are in extremely beautiful and delicate paper, made in origami... these last ‘forever’! Dragons, castles and book covers are also present in what is, as my little friend Pol said, 'the most beautiful shop window since I opened the shop!’

Thanks Pol ... And all of you who have come today to the shop to see all the little details of the window, especially a 3 year old girl who was ‘gluerd’ in the glass sending kisses to all the dragons!!!

|español| ya tenemos escaparte de Sant Jordi!!! yupiii!! es mi primer Sant Jordi en la ilovekutchi shop y me hacia mucha ilusión hacer el escaparate (ya lo tengo pensado hace meses…). Para los que no conocéis a la historia por detrás de este día tan especial aquí os dejo la Leyenda de Sant Jordi:

Dice la leyenda que hace mucho tiempo había un temible dragón que sacaba fuego por la boca. Este dragón hacía huir al pueblo, mataba a la gente con sus llamaradas y se tragaba vivas a las personas. Los aldeanos decidieron darle dos ovejas diariamente, para apaciguar su hambre y evitar que atacara a más personas. Pero... las ovejas se terminaron, entonces le dieron vacas, bueyes, ... y todos los animales que tenían, hasta que se quedaron sin nada que poder ofrecerle. El rey organizó una reunión en la que se decidió que harían un sorteo y le darían al dragón una persona cada día, para saciar su apetito. Un día le tocó a la hija del rey y él muy apenado dijo: "Perdonad a mi hija y, a cambio, os daré toda mi fortuna, todo mi oro y mi argento... la mitad de mi reinado". El pueblo negó la petición del rey y éste pidió ocho días para llorar a su hija. Llegado el día, el rey la dejó delante de la cueva, cerca del dragón. Pero, de repente, cuando el dragón ya abría su enorme boca para comerse a la princesa, apareció cabalgando, sobre un caballo blanco, con su lanza y su escudo, el valiente caballero Sant Jordi, para salvar a la princesa de las garras de aquel enorme dragón. El caballero alzó su lanza y de un golpe, el dragón cayó desplomado, con la lanza clavada en su corazón. De repente, de la sangre que le brotaba salió un rosal, con una preciosas rosas, entonces el caballero Sant Jordi escogió una, la más bonita de todas, y se la dio a la princesa en señal de amor. Desde entonces, la gente de aquel lugar vivió tranquila.

En los días de hoy, y en conmemoración del día internacional del libro, las personas intercambian libros y flores (rosas)… y como podéis comprobar por las fotos flores no faltan!! Eso si, en papeles súper bonitos y delicados ejecutadas en papiroflexia… porque estas duran ‘para siempre’! Dragones, castillos y fundas para libro también están presentes en el que es, según mi amiguito Pol, ‘el escaparate más bonito desde que he abierto la tienda!!’

Gracias Pol… Y a todos los que os habéis acercado hoy a la shop para ver todos los detallitos del escaparate, en especial a una niña de 3 años que se ha ‘colado’ en el vidrio enviando besitos a todos los dragones!!!

bienvenidos a la kutchi jungla!!

|english| since childhood I have a particular fascination with nature... I think I inherited from my father, whom I have always heard saying that he 'likes animals more than some people'. At home there was always some animal and always treated like royalty (for example, pepsi, my family dog, that has a reserved place on the couch, doesn’t like to touch grass, and when she goes out in the street to do her things she waits at the door before entering waitng for my mother to clean her...)!!

With this new shop window we go further into the dense and ‘savage ‘jungle of monkeys, lions and crocodiles! Softies, bags, artwork, badges, covers... all with a great personality, doing company to all the others characters who already lived in the shop!

I think that now the kutchi-nights will be even more fun, don’t you think? Just seeing the face of the monkeys I can guess the things they’re doing when I’m not there…

Note: kutchi (tickle, smile, joy) + jungle (dense forest inhabited by wild animals) = dense forest inhabited by animals that fill your day with joy and make you smile!!!

|español| desde pequeña que tengo una particular fascinación por bichos… creo que lo he heredado de mi padre, a quién siempre he escuchado decir que le ‘gustan más los animales que ciertas personas’. En casa siempre ha habido algún animalito y siempre tratado como realeza (que lo diga pepsi, la perrita de casa de mi familia, que tiene plaza reservada en el sofá, no le gusta tocar la tierra y hierbas, y cuando sale a la calle para hacer lo suyo espera a la puerta antes de entrar para que mi madre la limpie…)!!

Con este nuevo escaparate nos vamos más lejos, a la densa jungla ‘salvaje’ de monos, leones y cocodrilos! Muñecos, bolsos, ilustraciones, chapas, fundas… todos con mucha personalidad, haciendo compañía a todos los personajes que ya habitan en la shop!

Yo creo que ahora las kutchi-noches serán aún más divertidas, verdad? Sólo con ver la carita de los monos puedo adivinar la que se montan todos cuando no estoy por allí…

Nota: kutchi (cosquillas, sonrisa, alegría) + jungla (bosque denso habitado por animales salvajes) = bosque denso habitado por animales que llenan tu día de alegría y te hacen sonreír!!!

|english| yes, it’s true!!! I have to thank all of you that have been waiting for these news for quite some time but it was and still is a very slow process that depends not only on me... There are still some things pending but I think now I can say that KUTCHI WORKSHOPS ARE STARTING NOW!!

Some dates and teachers are yet to be confirmed so soon I will announce the first workshops. Places are limited to 5 people maximum and its a very cozy space, located on the first floor of the ilovekutchi shop! I will attempt to make the most of the workshops on friday afternoons and saturdays but I do not exclude the possibility of other days, depending on availability of teachers.

I am always receptive to your suggestions and ideas! If you know someone or you are interested in teaching please send me an email with all the information needed to: kutchishop@gmail.com!

|español| si es verdad!!! Os tengo que agradecer a todos que llevais esperando por estas noticias hace bastante tiempo pero fue y es un proceso muy lento que no depende solo de mi… Aún quedan algunas -cosas pendientes pero creo que ahora ya puedo decir que YA EMPIEZAN LOS KUTCHI TALLERES!!

Faltan confirmar algunas fechas y profesores por lo que en breve iré anunciando los primeros talleres. Las plazas son muy limitadas, a 5 personas máximo y el espacio es muy acojedor, situado en el piso superior de la ilovekutchi shop! Se intentará realizar la mayoria de talleres a los viernes por la tarde y sábados pero no excluimos la posibilidad de otros dias, dependiendo de la disponibilidad de los profesores.

|english| Susana del Baño is the responsable for Pink Sardine, a very recent project created with lots of enthusiasm: "the Pink Sardine's collection allows me to create characters from my drawings and give them volume. I like to think of those children who have on their hands one of these animals and become his daily and special companion."

Susana is an illustrator and designer of prints: "I love this job, in every print I can create a new story that will blow children’s imagination before going to sleep, or waking up.”

In addition, she also applies her illustrations to ceramic dinnerware, decorating each piece by hand, "is a very nice work I do in the workshops of Jordi Aguadé, a ceramist from Barcelona, who worked with Artigas in the beginning and now works daily, 82 years old, non-stop, collaborating in the project of the Sagrada Familia."

Here you can find some pieces of ceramic and the whole Pink Sardine family!!! They came to the shop only a few days ago and they have settled so well that is a joy to see the children watching them with a big smile!!

|español| Susana del Baño es la responsable por Pink Sardine, un proyecto muy reciente creado com mucha ilusión: “la colección de Pink Sardine me permite crear personajes, a partir de mis dibujos y darles volumen. Me gusta pensar en esos niños que tendrán en sus manos a uno de estos animales y lo convertirán en su compañero diario y especial.”

Susana es ilustradora y diseñadora de estampados: “me encanta este trabajo, en cada estampado puedo crear una historia nueva, es como inventar una historia que estrá estampada en las sábanas de un niño y que hará volar su imaginación antes de dormir, o al despertar.”

Además, también aplica sus estampadas a vajillas de cerámica, decorando cada pieza a mano: “es un trabajo muy bonito que hago en los talleres de Jordi Aguadé, un ceramista de Barcelona, que trabajó con Artigas en sus comienzos y ahora trabaja diariamente, a sus 82 años, sin parar, entre sus trabajos, colabora en el proyecto de la Sagrada Familia.”

Por aqui podrás encontrar algunas piezas de cerámica y toda la familia Pink Sardine!!! Han llegado a la shop hace poquitos dias y se han instalado tan bien que es una alegria ver los niños mirandoles con una enorme sonrisa!!

|english| Manada is a brand born in 2011 with a very clear philosophy: to combine what likes the most to its creator, Itziar... animals and illustration, all inspired by color and humor: bags, badges, magnets, illustrations...

Itziar lives and works in Madrid as a freenlancer. She’s super fan of social networks and loves navigating through webpages and blogs of design and illustration. Her ‘manada’ consists of rhinos, lions, bears, toucans, turtles, crocodiles, whales and others: "I have always loved animals. I’ve been wanting to have a dog for a long time: cat, turtles, parakeets, canary, fish, beetles?... and finally a dog. When my poor parents told me I could not have more animals, that the house was becoming a zoo, I let out a tear and then drew. And from there, I guess, began this hobby (or rather I would say obsession) for drawing animals."

Manada is also a charity project!!! MItziar joined El Refugio, an association that is dedicated to report neglect and abuse against animals. It also manages a shelter in the Sierra de Madrid. So, for every purchase made it will be donated a percentage:

|español| Manada es una marca que nace en 2011 con una filosofía muy clara: combinar lo que más le gusta a su creadora, Itziar… animales y ilustración, todo inspirado por el color y el humor: bolsos, chapas, imanes, ilustraciones...

Itziar vive y trabaja en Madrid como freenlancer. Es super fan de las redes sociales y le encanta curiosear en páginas y blogs de diseño y ilustración. Su Manada está constituida por rinocerontes, leones, osos, tucanes, tortugas, cocodrilos, ballenas y otros más: “Siempre me han encantado los animales. Años pidiendo un perro han dado mucho de sí: gato, tortugas, periquitos, canario, peces, ¿escarabajo?… y finalmente perro. Cuando mis pobres padres me decían que no podía tener más animales, que la casa se estaba convirtiendo en un zoo, soltaba una lagrimita y después los dibujaba. Y de ahí, supongo que me quedó esa afición (o más bien diría obsesión) de dibujar animales.”

Manada es también un proyecto solidário!!! Itziar se ha unido a El Refugio, una asociación que se dedica a denunciar el abandono y los malos tratos contra los animales. Además, gestiona un centro de acogida en la Sierra de Madrid. Asi que, por cada compra realizada se dona un porcentaje:

|english| Laura, with academic formation in ‘conservation and restoration of painting’ and ‘interior design’, has 35 years old, two children and lives in Barcelona!

She worked in her profession for several years until she decided to create pica-soques: "It's funny how I ended up doing felt pads, a material that I love, but had never sewn or captured my attention. I have at home an old sewing machine I inherited from my grandmother but I've never used, so I purchased a simple sewing machine six months ago and I've learned it, helped by the advice from my mother, who is an expert on the subject".

Her biggest inspiration are children's toys: "Clearly, my passion for castles came mostly from my great hobby of collecting Playmobil, witch we have a lot at home, including a castle, a Victorian house... some of my cushion models".

Very soon you will also find them at the online shop!

|español| Laura, con formación en ‘conservación y restauración de pintura’ y ‘diseño de interiores’, tiene 35 años, dos hijos y vive en Barcelona!

Ha trabajado en su profesion durante algunos años hasta que ha decidido crear pica-soques: “Es curioso cómo he acabado haciendo cojines de fieltro, que es un material que me encanta, pero que nunca había cosido ni me llamaba la atención hacerlo. Tengo en casa una máquina de coser antigua que heredé de mi abuela pero nunca la he usado, compré una sencilla máquina de coser hace medio año y con ella he ido aprendiendo, ayudada por consejos de mi madre, que sí es una experta en el tema”.

Su mayor inspiración son los juguetes de sus hijos: “Lo de hacer castillos tengo muy claro que sobre todo me vino por mi gran afición a coleccionar Playmobil, tenemos en casa una gran cantidad, entre ellos un castillo, una casa victoriana… que son algunos de mis modelos de cojín.”

|english| Vinilet is a personal project of Mariona Arteaga inspired by the passion for illustration and reinforced by the feeling that generates motherhood.

Mariona explains that "with these pictures that are attached to the wall and other supports such as windows or furniture, we want to fill the children’s rooms with millions of animals, clouds, helicopters, stars, flowers, imaginative content and everything to help kids to dream, be happy and learn to play, learn to know the names of things and fly with their imagination".

Vinilet is one of those projects that for Mariona, as a graphic designer, you have to do in life: "Like many want to plant a tree or writing a book, the designers that admire the art of illustration also need to conduct internal projects and emotions that fill us professionally".

It is a pleasure to have the vinilets around here and you can also find them in the online shop!!

Nos explica Mariona que “con estas ilustraciones que se enganchan a la pared y otros soportes como ventanas o muebles, queremos llenar las estancias de los niños con millones de animalitos, nubes, helicópteros, estrellas, flores, elementos imaginarios y todo aquello que a los niños les ayude a soñar, sentirse felices y aprender a jugar, aprender a saberse los nombres de las cosas y a volar con su imaginación”.

Vinilet es uno de esos proyectos que para Mariona, como diseñadora gráfica, hay que hacer en la vida: “igual que muchos quieren plantar un árbol o escribir un libro, los diseñadores que admiramos el arte de la ilustración también necesitamos llevar a cabo proyectos internos que nos llenen y emocionen profesionalmente”.

Below I leave you a translation from the original text in Catalan, to Spanish:

“For years, Mara Cascais had a notebook filled with drawings, sketches and characters. A small treasure that this Portuguese architect got into the suitcase when she moved to Barcelona. Here she practiced her profession for some years, but one day she to leave Autocad to concentrate on what motivated her the most: working with her hands.
She opened the book of her childhood and surrounded herself with buttons, ribbons, haberdashery, fabrics and strips of felt to shape everything that had bloomed years back of her head.Fabric bracelets with a secret pocket, mischievous monsters brooches, felt cupcakes to stick sewing needles, fabric necklaces, bibs with retro fabric for babies... With this background, Mara (also known in her family environment as kutchi) began a new stage in her life.
The next step was done: to open a studio in Barceloneta, the neighborhood she lives in since she came here and would not change it for any other. And so came Ilovekutchi, a colorful and naive showcase which displays the talents of local artists and also Portuguese. You'll find fun clothes for girls from Lola for Kids, fabric bags and purses from Silvia Ribas, fimo brooches from Gálago, pins lined with Japanese cloth from Andapanda... and from the land of Fado and green wine, there are the cloth dolls from Laranja Lima Limão, cupcake necklaces from D. Loya, laminated bags from Amo-te Mil Milhões...
But if something is different at Ilovekutchi from other craft shops are the cloth covers. Mara has no problem to acknowledge her obsession. We recognize in her the skill to combine printed fabrics and turning them into covers for phones, books, notebooks, baguettes, sandwiches, glasses... If one is beautiful, the other is even more!”

|español| Esta semana Time Out Barcelona ha dedicado un rincón a la ilovekutchi shop!!! Muchas Gracias a Laia por las generosas palabras y a Maria por las estupendas fotos!! Está genial chicas!!

“Durante años, Mara Cascais ha llenado un cuaderno con dibujos, bocetos y personajes inventados. Un pequeño tesoro que esta arquitecta portuguesa metió en la maleta cuando vino a vivir a Barcelona. Aquí ejerció unos años su profesión, pero un buen día dejó aparcado el Autocad para concentrarse en lo que más la motiva: trabajar con las manos.
Abrió el cuaderno de su infancia y se ha rodeado de botones, cintas de mercería, recortes de tejidos y tiras de fieltro para dar forma a todo lo que años atrás había surgido de su cabeza. Pulseras de tela con un bolsillo secreto, broches que recuerdan monstruos traviesos, pasteles de fieltro para poner las agujas de coser, collares de tiras de tejido, baberos con estampados retro para bebé... Con este bagaje, Mara (también conocida en su ambiente familiar como kutchi) inauguró una nueva etapa en su vida.
El paso siguiente estaba cantado: abrir una tienda taller en la Barceloneta, su barrio desde que vive aquí y que no cambiaría por ningún otro. Así nacía Ilovekutchi, un escaparate colorista y naïf donde se desarrolla el talento de artistas locales y también de portugueses. Encontraréis divertida ropa para niñas de Lola for Kids, bolsas de tela y monederos de Silvia Ribas, broches de fimo de Gálago, chapas forradas con telas japonesas de Andapanda... Desde el país de los fados y el vinho verde, nos llegan los muñecos de ropa de Laranja Lima Limão, los collares de pasteles de D. Loya, las bolsas plastificadas de Amo-te mil Milhões...
Pero si en algo se diferencia Ilovekutchi de las tiendas de artesanía es por las fundas de ropa. Mara no tiene inconveniente en reconocer su obsesión. Nosotros reconocemos su traza para combinar tejidos estampados y convertirlos en fundas para móviles, libros, cuadernos, baguettes, bocadillos, gafas... Si una es guapa, la otra aún más!”

|english| …there was a blue koala swinging in a white tree, with white grass and white clouds… a perfect little white world where only flowers and animals had colours: the curious green ant-eater, a striped zebra hiding in the grass, a pink butterfly coming out from a cute pom-pom flower, some purple snakes hanging in tree branches, crazy frogs jumping around… ALL HAVING FUN!!!

Nothing better than a little ‘fairy tale’ to present you the new shop window! It has only been 2 days since I’ve put it all together and from the looks and comments from all the people that come by I can tell they really liked it! I hope you do too! Do you?

They’re handmade toys and accessories in hypoallergenic materials, totally washable and fit for babies and kids. |english| Yesterday, while going up and down the stairs of the shop, Judit, with 8 years old, brought me and her mother a surprise: she had taken upstairs a couple of pens and paper and drew a picture from us... When I saw it I couldn’t avoid asking: ‘And what have you drawn on my neck?’... And she replied: 'A scarf... of course!!!' followed by the explanation that she had never seen me without anything on the neck... a scarf, a neckerchief, a necklace!!! She was right!

With lots of care, I have placed it next to the logo of ilovekutchi that Judit had made with her brother and mom, and gave it to me on my birthday! Without realizing it, we had created a little corner of memories which had already placed, for a few months, a beautiful illustration of Carla Torrão that, surprisingly, has sent me as a gift along with some of the cute things we have around here... Thank you all!!

|español| Ayer, mientras subía y bajaba frenéticamente las escaleras de la shop, Judit, de 8 años, trajo a mi y a su mamá una supresa: se había llevado arriba un par de bolis y papel y hizo un dibujo de las tres… Al verlo no pude dejar de preguntarle: ‘Y que me has dibujado en el cuello?’… Y me contesta: ‘Una bufanda… claro!!!’ a lo que se siguió la explicación de que ella nunca me había visto sin nada en el cuello… una bufanda, un pañuelo, un collar!!! Tenia razón!

Con cariño, lo he colocado al lado del logo de ilovekutchi que Judit había hecho con su hermano y su mamá, y que me lo regalaron en el día de mi cumpleaños! Sin darme cuenta habíamos hecho un pequeño rincón de recuerdos donde ya habitaba hace algunos meses una ilustración preciosa de Carla Torrão que, por sorpresa, me lo ha enviado de regalo junto con algunas de las cositas que tenemos por aquí… Gracias a todas!!

|english| I have always loved Christmas season! The lights, the colors, the streets, the smell, the food and, of course, the gifts… hummmm… the gifts… I like to guess what's inside before I even open them: I take them under the tree with lot’s of careful and smell them, shake and take off, one by one, the adhesive that holds the paper together...

This year, with the shop, it’s my turn to wrap all the kutchi-gifts with love! I’ve also dedicated lots of special care to the shop window: hanging balls made of felt and fabric, and a huge Santa Claus wishing MERRY CHRISTMAS to all who pass by the street!!!

Hope you like it as much as me and all those who have passed by here, and I also take this opportunity to remember you all that we will be closed from 22/12 (afternoon) until 28/12! Reopen on 29/12!!!

|español| la época de Navidad siempre me ha encantado!! Las luces, los colores, las calles, el olor, la comida y, como no, los regalos… hummmm… los regalos… como me gusta adivinar lo que esta dentro antes de abrir: los quito debajo del árbol con cuidadito y los huelo, agito y saco el celo que sujeta el papel uno a uno...

Este año, con la shop, me toca envolver todos los kutchi-regalos con mucho cariño! Al escaparate también le he dedicado un cuidado especial: bolitas que cuelgan hechas en fieltro y tela, y un papa Noel enorme deseando FELIZ NAVIDAD a todos los que pasan por la calle!!!

|english| these days in the shop are becoming short for the amount of work there is to do... Christmas is at the door and children that pass by the new shop window ask their mothers: “can the wise kings buy at this store??"... while their eyes get glued to the glass... some, more audacious, come in and freeze in the middle of the store without knowing to which side look first and that’s when their mothers have to recur to the deepest imagination to drag them home!

When I see these children and all the ones who pass by the shop everyday, I get a refill of energy and remember why I decided to “listen to my heart". I'm happy. Life has taught me that not much should be asked and I have learned to live with the good and the 'less good'.

THANKS to all who pass by the shop everyday. Those who come from far, far, far away, those from close and those from 'next door', those who pass and say hello, those who say to "work less and relax more!”, the curious, the ones who have been there from day one, those who want to take all the shop, the Portuguese and all of you that pass by car or moto and stop to look at the shop window in the middle of the street with everyone honking!!!

|español| los días en la shop se hacen cortos para lo mucho que hay que hacer… las navidades están a la puerta y los niños al pasar por el nuevo escaparate preguntan a sus madres: “mamá, los reyes pueden venir a comprar en esta tienda??”… mientras que sus ojos se pegan al vidrio… algunos, más atrevidos, entran y se plantan en medio de la tienda sin saber a que lado mirar más y es cuando sus madres tienen que recurrir a la más profunda imaginación para arrastrarlos a casa!

Cuando veo a estos niños y a todos los que pasan cada día por la tienda, me vuelvo a llenar de energía y me recuerdo porque he decidido ‘escuchar mi corazón’. Soy feliz. La vida me ha enseñado que no se le debe pedir mucho y con eso he aprendido a vivir con lo bueno y lo ‘menos bueno’.

GRACIAS a todos los que pasáis por la shop cada día. A los que venís de muy, muy, muy lejos, los de cerca y los de ‘la puerta al lado’, los que pasáis a saludar, los que decís que ‘trabaje menos y descanse más!!’, los curiosos, los que estáis ahí desde el primer día, los que queréis llevaros toda la tienda, los portugueses y a todos los que pasáis en coche o moto y paráis mirando el escaparate en medio de la calle con todos pitando!!!

|english| At the end of the day the sun leaves the outside and the shop is flooded with a warm yellow… the colours are brighter and I feel comfortable. I always imagined that when I close the door all comes to life... "Adeus meus meninos... Portem-se bem…" and I leave the shop with a thousand ideas in my head!! Pol and Judith, two little friends from the neighbourhood, listening, very surprised, to my words ask me: "do you always say that?? and you think they hear you??.." Yep, I always talk to them so they all feel very happy in the ilovekutchi shop and I tell them to behave in my absence... I have this feeling that they make a huge party when they’re alone!!!

Lately, I have no time to put the news on the blog... which makes me a bit sad because I can’t show you all the new things that are now living in the shop: the little shoes, the snack bags, the square pencil cases, the wool booties, the headbands, the covers for notebooks and pens,the eye-glass cases, the baguette bags... uff ...

I’m also trying to have the online store running before Christmas!! So you all can be able to enjoy the ilovekutchi shop!!! Cool or not?

|español| Al final del día el sol deja el exterior y la tienda se inunda de un calor amarillo… los colores brillan más y me siento a gusto. Siempre he imaginado que cuando cierro la puerta todo gana vida… “Adeus meus meninos… Portem-se bem” y me marcho con mil ideas en la cabeza!! Pol y Judit, dos amiguitos del barrio, al escuchar mis palabras me preguntan muy sorpresos: “tu siempre les dices eso?? y crees que te escuchan??..” Pues si, siempre hablo con ellos para que se sientan todos muy felices en la ilovekutchi shop y les digo que se comporten bien en mi ausencia… siempre me he imaginado que se deben hacer una fiesta cuando están solos!!!

Últimamente no me da tiempo a poner las novedades en el blog… lo que me entristece un poco porque son tantas que me da pena no poder enseñaros las cositas nuevas que habitan en la shop: los patucos, las bolsitas de merienda, los estuches box, las botitas de lana, las diademas, las fundas para bolis y cuaderno, las fundas de gafas, los bolsos para las baguetes… uff…

También estoy tratando de tener la tienda online funcionando antes de navidades!! Así todos vais a poder disfrutar de la ilovekutchi shop!!! Mola o no?

Some time ago I knew the creations of 'LOLA' but when I visited their studio I fell in love immediately!!! The name comes from the young daughter of Airí, one of the creative minds, which is adorable... just take a look at her posing for the photos!!

The love they have for each piece is immense: "we personally choose all the product thinking of the children. We like flowers and stripes, squares and bows, buttons and ribbons, we like cars, dinos, cakes and numbers, all the colours that will inspire us to our basic theme. We are committed to sustainable production and every garment goes through our hands before reaching the public".

Their inspiration comes from all over the world: "In our travels, our friends, our children and our friend’s children”.

|español| LOLA for kids es una marca de ropa y complementos, pequeña y delicada para bebes de 0 a 3 años. Hace ya algún tiempo que conocía las creaciones de ‘LOLA’ pero cuando he visitado su taller me he enamorado!!! El nombre viene de la pequeña hija de Airí, una de las creativas, que es un amor… nada más hay que verla posando para las fotos!!

El cariño que tienen por cada creación es inmenso: “todo el producto lo escogemos personalmente pensando en los mas pequeños. Nos gustan las flores y las rayas, los cuadros y los lazos, los botones y las cintas; nos gustan los coches, los dinos, las tartas y los números, todo aquello colorista que nos inspire una temática para nuestros básicos. Apostamos por una producción sostenible y cada prenda pasa por nuestras manos antes de llegar a las mamas”.

Su inspiración viene de todas las partes del mundo: “de nuestros viajes, nuestros amigos, nuestros niños y sus niños”.
